As part of our ongoing placemaking interventions within Project YPB, our team has completed a series of activities aimed at improving and reimagining public spaces around Elementary School Vidikovac.
In collaboration with the local municipality, we took action to enhance both the schoolyard and the nearby forest area — transforming them into safer, more inviting, and youth-friendly spaces.
Key activities included:
🌲 Forest area revitalization:
We cleared the forest of old and risky trees, removed overgrown vegetation, and planted new trees to ensure safety and ecological balance.
Due to forest protection regulations, we incorporated natural materials to design an obstacle course, encouraging play and movement while respecting environmental guidelines.
🏀 Basketball court renovation:
The old, damaged basketball boards were replaced with new boards and nets, restoring the court’s usability and making it a lively spot for students and local youth once again.
Through these interventions, we aim to inspire the local community to continue maintaining and improving these public spaces — ensuring they remain active, green, and responsive to the needs of both youth and residents.
This project demonstrates how small-scale actions can lead to meaningful, long-term community impact.
